Last week Blake and I attended the Rotary District 7710 Governors’ Banquet at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary.  The banquet honored our out-going District Governor Rick Carnagua and served as the formal ceremony to induct our new District Governor Leigh Hudson.  The Rotary theme for the 2012-2013 was “Peace Through Service” with Sakuji Tanaka serving as the Rotary International President.  The Rotary theme for 2013-2014 is “Engage Rotary, Change Lives” with Ron Burton of Oklahoma serving as the Rotary International President. I had the honor of hearing Ron Burton speak a few months ago at Carolina PETS.

Leigh Hudson revealed a very nice painting that was painted by a local artist to portray a Rotary Club meeting in 2013.  He will be selling replicas of the print (both matted and framed) as a way to raise money for Polio during his term as District Governor.  Blake and I had a wonderful time at the dinner; we sat with Cary-Kildaire 2012-2013 President, Russ Andrews and also with several members from the Cary-MacGregor Rotary Club.  They were trying sooooo hard to recruit Blake to their Wednesday lunchtime meeting.  I also enjoyed seeing my darling friend Eleni Steadman.  She is serving her second year term as Assistant Area Governor and I’m so happy that our Cary-Kildaire Club is in her area!

Bill Lefes was also in attendance with his wife, Sue.  Bill and I are in the same club and Bill is a Past District Governor for 7710.  The Governors’ Banquet also listed all of the 2013-2014 Incoming-Club Presidents for District 7710.  This week has been ‘Installation Week’ for all of the Cary Clubs.  My Installation Banquet will be held tomorrow (Thursday, June 27th) at Tyler’s Taproom of Apex.  I’m very excited and nervous as the same time!  Thank you also to My Girlfriend’s Closet of downtown Apex and downtown Cary for dressing me in this lovely gown by Minuet.
