Bubba Gump meets Carnival Fantasy
We all certainly need a little R&R now and then, a vay-cay, time away, vacation, time-off from work (and life!) and well, last week Blake and I were lucky enough to have that opportunity. One of the best benefits of working at Smith & Smith, CPA is the week of vacation to honor your wedding anniversary.
Blake and I celebrated 7-years last week on May 21st (hard to believe that beautiful Banner Elk, NC wedding was 7-years ago!!!). We started talking/planning for our trip a few months back and realized that it was FINALLY time for us to take our first ever cruise! Prices were so dirt-cheap and having the advantages of going out of Charleston, SC just made sense to us. So we booked a totally fabulous 5-day cruise to the Bahamas aboard the Carnival Fantasy Ship and set sail on May 24th. We took our boys along and really had a wonderful time! One of the best parts about leaving out of Charleston, SC meant that I got to see and spend time with one of my college besties, Lindsey Dishman! We crashed at her totally cool pad (right on The Battery!) the night before and even ventured to downtown Charleston by foot for dinner and fun. We ended up going to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. for many reasons, but mainly because they are VERY kid-friendly (hello…they have a ‘make-shift’ river built on their front brick patio where they invite kids to race little rubber duckies up and down while you wait for your table, really, it doesn’t get anymore kid-friendly than that!)
We had a really great dinner, Lindsey’s friend, Tim, was able to join us and our oldest son, Trent, really took a liking to him (maybe it had something to do with the fact that he carried Trent on his shoulders while Blake had our other son, Mark, on his shoulders, but who knows, Tim is cool and fits in well with our crowd).
Dinner was great, we all had something different; I know Tim had the FRIED CHICKEN and Lindsey had some kind of cool shish-kabob meal, while Blake and I shared a multi-shrimp dish. The décor of the restaurant inside is really entertaining as it has funny signs and sayings all around. We also had fun reminiscing of our first times seeing the movie “Forest Gump”.
All in all: Charleston was great, the Carnival Fantasy Cruise was great, our vay-cay was great and life is…you guessed it…GREAT!
