Blood and Hockey…Not What You Might Be Thinking

Blood and Hockey

VIP Blood Donor

Cam is a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross here in Cary.  They have him on a schedule for donating and he goes every 6-8 weeks.  Cam has been a regular donor for several years now and recently received a nice package in the mail from the ARC.  Inside was a nice blue t-shirt that says HERO on the front, and included a shirt pin and a nice ink pen (since we are a CPA office, we always love to find a good pen that writes smooth and this one is a keeper!)  The package recognized Cam as being a VIP blood donor.  Because of Cam’s work & study schedule, he doesn’t get to attend very many community events, so being a loyal blood donor is one of his ways of contributing to our community.  Nice work Cam!

I am always pleasantly surprised as how life can create your path to cross with others and then it turns out you had a common thread all along!  This recently happened to me with two work friends, both of which have the lovely name of Sarah.

My high school best friend, Jessica Lang, attended college at UNC and roomed with a sweet girl named Sarah Cooper.  Years later Sarah was starting a pet photography business (how cool is that!?!? And she is very good at her work! Click HERE for her website) and she was looking for a CPA firm, so Jessica recommended us (Smith & Smith, CPA).  I liked Sarah Cooper instantly and she’s been a client for about a year or so now.   Now here is how the other Sarah, Sarah Thacker (owner of  Thacker Law Firm) comes into play.  Our CPA firm is a sponsor for a well known ladies networking luncheon (Triangle Ladies Power Lunch) and as a Corporate Sponsor, I get to put a marketing item into the goodie bags each month.  Last year I included a magnet in the goodie bags. Sarah Thacker was at one of the lunches and put the magnet on her fridge at work.  Later on, she was getting some pet photographs made by Sarah Cooper (of her sweet doggies) and that is then that Sarah Cooper noticed the magnet on Thacker’s fridge and exclaimed that we were her CPA.  From there, I was introduced to Thacker and the rest is friendship history!  Sarah is an excellent attorney and we’ve shared many client referrals over the past year.  I recently attended a Carolina Hurricanes Hockey game with the ‘Sarahs’ and we had a wonderful time!  I love how life can make paths cross in the most unique ways!

WOW!  The days are busy with lots of tax appointments/drop-offs and phone calls!   We are still accepting new monthly business clients.  Smith & Smith, CPA in Cary is never too busy to help a small business owner with their accounting/tax needs.  We welcome referrals!  Please note that the months of Jan-April 2012 will be very busy around here and we’ll be working 7-days a week with 12-15+hour days to get everyone taken care of in a timely manner.  Please get your 2011 taxes in as soon as you can.  I’d also love to have a few new reviews posted for us under the name business name, Smith & Smith, CPA on Google.  Please click HERE to write a review (click the RED box that says “Write a Review“)  Thanks so much!   Visit our website: http://www.smithandsmithcpa.com/ for more information.
