CPA and football

CPA in Cary, NC

Football season is here!  Give me a Hip-Hip-Hooray!  Doesn’t matter if your football preference is for high school, college or professional, the season of pigskins, helmets cracking and whistles blowing has arrived!  That is how we want to spend our weekends, out tailgating the parking lots with a bucket of fresh crispy chicken, homemade potato salad, or a charcoal grill cooking up burgers and hotdogs for our family and friends.  Seriously, you just HAVE to love football!  There is another event taking place this time of year that your CPA in Cary knows about, but you may or may not be aware of…this is the season of ‘tax extensions’.  That’s right, if you are one of millions who opted (for whatever reason) to file an extension in March or April, the time has now come to get those completed and filed with the IRS.  Corporate tax returns with extensions had to be filed by March 15th, thus giving you a 6-month extension period and they are now due on September 15th.  Individuals who filed a personal tax return extension by April 15th also had a 6-month extension period and those are due on October 15th.  It doesn’t matter if you filed your extension with a CPA in Cary or if you filed it by yourself, the time is coming quickly for those to be completed.

Now you tell me how you want to spend your weekends…hanging out with the family at the tailgate and cheering with the crowd for your favorite team…or hunkered down behind the computer slaving away at getting your tax return completed…your choice!   I urge you to choose wisely and find a CPA in Cary that can get this done for you.  May I suggest one?  Our CPA firm is located in Cary, NC and we work with hundreds of individuals and business corporations to complete their taxes each year.  Let the office of Robert G. (Bob) Smith, CPA in Cary provide a professional and affordable tax filing service for you.  Contact us at (919) 380-0600 or by email at the top of my blog.    Watch the video below and see how great we are at catching a football and tailgating!  You have to watch it till the end!   Best of luck to your favorite team this year!  Our office will be cheering GO PACK and GO PIRATES!!!!

Companies in Cary & Ribbon Cutting

Companies in Cary
Elizabeth of Prime Pay helps Companies in Cary

We live in a great area and if you didn’t know that, then just look around!  There are so many different companies in Cary that range from mom & pop restaurants all the way up to big corporations.  There are also several companies in Cary that have located their headquarters in this area (Consonus, ABB and Lord to just name a few).   As a CPA firm, we are always looking for other business partners in the area that offer services to small business companies in Cary and we try to develop a referral relationship with them.  By connecting with best local professionals and having a solid relationship in place, we are then confident when it comes to referring our clients to them when they need their specific service.   For example, Elizabeth Williams of PrimePay (a local payroll service for small-medium companies in Cary)  has become a trusted referral partner for us.  I’ve known Elizabeth for a while, she used to work at Lifetime Fitness and when the position for her opened at PrimePay, it was too good of an opportunity for her to pass up.  So I quote the advice of a good friend of mine, Steve Hand, (Executive Director for BNI in this area)  “You do business with the people that you know, like and trust”.  Elizabeth stopped by the office earlier this week to deliver an intriguing blip from an online column called “Mind Your Business”.   Here is the link for the blog site, I think you will enjoy reading it!  The title is “6 Successful Business Lessons from Starbucks & Oprah”.   Click HERE to read the full article.

Cam took time from work last week to attend the ribbon cutting of another new business, All 4 Paws.  The ribbon cutting was hosted by the Apex Chamber as they welcomed All 4 Paws, an animal hospital, into their chamber as a new member.

Are you looking for ways to connect with other companies in Cary, Raleigh, Apex and other parts of The Triangle?  My advice would be to get involved with your local Chamber of Commerce and other networking groups.   That is the best way to get plugged-in!

Favorite Things

Actually I have LOTS of favorite things…Blake (my husband) says that I say that all the time about everything.  It’s okay to have lots of favorite things right?!?!  Let me share some of my most recent favorites:

favorite things

www.mmboysblog.com

Favorite Things New Blog: Recently two of my good local insurance referral partners, Mike Petilli of MVP Insurance and Mark Wilson of Apex Cary Insurance, started a blog called “The M&M Boys(totally cool right???…I mean, who DOESN’T love M&Ms!?!?)  They are taking the Triangle area by storm with their blog and it’s a great read!  Check it out when you get time.  Of course the master-mind behind their M&M blog is the same guy who is the master-mind behind my blog…the one and only, Eric Green of Eric Green Marketing.  I met Eric a few months ago through BNI as a guest of Mike Petilli and the rest is blogging-history!

favorite things

Kay Walker from ASNC

Favorite Things Local Organization:  Last week at our Cary-Kildaire Rotary Club, we heard from Kay Walker of the Autism Society of NC.   I’ve participated in events that have involved the ASNC before, but it was so refreshing to have Kay come and speak to our club about all of the families they are helping and lives that they are enriching through their services.  Kay is the Director of Development for the ASNC and helped to educate our club about the seriousness of Autism and the resources that are available to NC families.

favorite things

Rebecca & Payton

Favorite  Things Client/Daughter Duo:  Rebecca and Payton came in to see us last week and to drop off some of her accounting work with Blake.  I love, love, love those two girls!  Rebecca has been a friend and client for many years and I’ve known Payton ever since she was a bun-in-the-oven!  Now she is a glowing 1st grader and full of lots of spunk.  I always enjoy seeing Rebecca when she comes by, but I really like it when she brings Payton along too because Payton always has something funny to say…like the other day she asked me “why my hair was so big and bushy” and I told her it was because it was humid and hot outside and she looked at me with a big puzzled look and said (as she pointed to my hair) “You mean that is what happens to you when you walk outside?”  Thanks Payton…thanks.

favorite things

Mark in the paper box

Favorite Things Way to Use a Paper Box:  So my little guy, Mark, had a bad case of strep-throat last week, therefore he got to spend a day with me at the office.  Mark is what we call around the office…”NOT AN OFFICE KID”, meaning that he is into EVERYTHING and very busy with distractions and noise.  I did however manage to keep him busy for about 20-minutes by giving him a paper box to play with…he made a house out of it and he used the back part as a window to peek out at me.  Seriously, my new fave way to use a paper box!

Favorite Things Picture Last Week:  Do I have to say anything else!?!?  Grandpa with my boys!

favorite things

Grandpa with grandsons

What are some of your favorite things?  Make it a great week and keep our CPA practice in mind for your friends, family and local business owners who are seeking a professional CPA!

Cary Chamber Annual Banquet and Awards

Cary Chamber

Jean, Becca and Renee: Long time Ambassador Friends

Last night was really one of the best events of the year!  The Cary Chamber of Commerce held their Annual End of Year Banquet at the beautiful and magnificent Preston Country Club Grand Ballroom.  The event was SOLD OUT and the crowd was full of excitement and energy.  Blake and I attended the event together and we love going early for the cocktail hour so that we can mix with friends and colleagues.  We saw Steve and Michelle Muir on our way inside, Michelle is a candidate for the Mayor of Cary (election day is October 11th).  Once inside I spent some time talking with two of my longtime favorite Cary Chamber Ambassador friends, Renee Groom of Avon and Jean Williams of Allen Tate Realty.  I’ve known both of these gals for many years and relish in any chance I get to see them.  I was holding in a secret about Renee during the cocktail hour as I knew there was a BIG award coming her way during the evening and I couldn’t wait for her to find out!

Blake and I were seated at the table sponsored by Deutshe Bank DB Global Technology and hosted by Sheila Carter.  Sheila was an excellent table host and I enjoyed talking with her about her previous career paths and life growing up in Eastern NC.  We also enjoyed the other mixed company at our table which included: Wayne Loots of Wake Tech Business and Industry Center, Kyle Greer and Steve Stroud of NAI Carolantic Realty, Gary Ashworth of Lynn’s Hallmark and his son & daughter-in-law, Scott and Stephanie Ashworth, also of Lynn’s Hallmark.  Blake and I enjoyed chatting with Scott and Stephanie as we had a lot in common with them (young parents raising boys and working in family owned businesses).  The keynote speaker was Tom Ross, President for University of North Carolina.

Cary Chamber
Renee and Brian, Ambassador of the Year & Citizen of the Year

The best part of the Cary Chamber Annual Banquet was of course the awards presentation!  They gave out three different awards last night: Ambassador of the Year, Business of the Year and Citizen of the Year.  Here comes the surprise part for Renee Groom that I had mentioned earlier.  This was the 2nd time that Renee would win the Ambassador of the Year Award, so Delancy, VP of the Cary Chamber, had asked me a few weeks ago to help gather some stats on Renee’s contributions to the Cary Chamber during her years of involvement.  So I some-what tricked Renee into giving me some stats and this is what we uncovered:  She’s been a member for 10 years, Ambassador for 9, brought in 74 new members from participating in the Membership Drive for 7 years and has won the all-expense paid trip 5 times.  She’s helped to collect 189 gifts for the Cary Chamber Annual Reverse Car Raffle & Auction and has attended around 80 ribbon cuttings for local businesses.  She’s just a firecracker who has a passion in life for living each day to the fullest because you never know if you have tomorrow to enjoy.  The Ambassador of the Year Award is one that is voted on by the other Ambassadors so it carries a lot of weight and meaning behind it.  Congrats Renee!! Well deserved!  And now she is an Ambassador for LIFE for the Cary Chamber.   The other awards last night were just as exciting with LORD Corporation winning for Business of the Year and the incredible Brian Reid of Paragon Bank receiving the Citizen of the Year Award.  My camera didn’t make the best picture because of the lighting and the size of the room, but I do love this picture as it captures two winners last night…this is Brian Reid giving Renee Groom a hug as he presented her with the Ambassador of the Year Award.  Brian would later get the Citizen of the Year Award presented to him by Steve Zaytoun

I also want to say a sweet note about the wonderful staff of the Cary Chamber.  They are always so helpful and welcoming.  I am sad to see Tiffanee Gwaltney leave the Cary Chamber in the next few weeks.  She has been the VP of Education and Finance ever since our company first joined and I’ve gotten to know her so well over the years.  She’s been an excellent leader for the Education Committee and helped to get our CPA firm involved as a sponsor for the Honor A Teacher Award this past year for Alston Ridge Elementary.  I’m going to miss Tiffanee dearly!  But I am also happy to say that they have hired an outstanding young lady to fill her shoes, Allison Wrenn!  Allison used to work for the Cary Chamber a few years ago and we are so glad to see her back on staff!

Congrats again to all of the winners last night!  What a joy to be a member of the Cary Chamber!

Eisenhower Fellowships and Other Cool People

Eisenhower Fellowship

Eisenhower Fellowship

Life sure is good.  The best news to me is when I hear of one of our clients, friends or family members getting an award or honor or receiving great news!  I love to celebrate with other people!  Right now our CPA Firm is celebrating with one of our favorite tax clients, Jeff Frazier of Cisco Systems.  Jeff was recently awarded a 2012 Eisenhower Fellowship!!!  THAT IS BIG NEWS!!!!  We’ve known Jeff and his family for many years and we are so happy for him!  Are you familiar with the honor of the Eisenhower Fellowship?  Here are the details:  The Eisenhower Fellowships organization is Chaired by former Secretary of State, Gen. Colin Powell.  Each year, the Eisenhower Fellowships organization selects approximately 10 fellows from the United States and sends them along on a four-week fellowship.  This will take place next calendar year and Jeff will travel to Australia, Singapore, and likely Korea and New Zealand to meet with business and country leaders on the topic of social/public finance (Social Impact Bonds) and technological modernization in the public markets.  In particular, Jeff will examine language access in the judiciary and the role of video technology.  Again, CONGRATS to Jeff and his family!

Horizon Performance

Horizon Performance

I also met another really cool guy this week at Rotary.  His name is Dr. Jat Thompson and he was the speaker for our meeting on Thursday night, invited by Nancy Conklin of SunTrust Bank.  Nancy is the Branch Manager/Assistant Vice President of the SunTrust Bank located in Cary on 910 Kildaire Farm Road, she’s been a friend for a long time and I regard her as one of my top banking referral partners.  She had kept her program for Rotary that night unwraps and sort of a “top secret” topic from the rest of the club.  So we were all very anxious to see and hear what Nancy was bringing our way!  After hearing Dr. Thompson speak, I think we all understood why Nancy was having a hard time clearly explaining her program topic.  Dr. Thompson has a very unique business and represents some of the most elite and high-profile organizations in the country.  His company is called Horizon Performance, which is a leadership development and performance management company and Dr. Thompson has his Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology.  His presentation was very engaging as he used some very entertaining examples, with permission from his clients of course!  Click HERE to find out more about Horizon Performance.

Designed to Care

I also wanted to mention three other cool clients that have some neat “happenings” coming up soon.  Teresa Robinson of Club Z! In-Home Tutoring is offering some parent workshops called “How to Set Your Child Up for College Success” and “Learning Built to Last”.  Both of these workshops are excellent and will help students/parents master the challenges of developing good study skills and being successful in college prep, click HERE to view more & register to attend.  I ran into a client at Barnes and Nobles this past weekend, Heather Foust, and she was so excited to tell me about a new project that her and business partner, Shanna Middleton, are working on.  They have started a non-profit called “Designed to Care” and are looking forward to their FIRST home makeover in Raleigh!  Stay tuned for more details!!!!  I plan to help cover their progress and development of this proejct with my blog because I really believe in the work they are doing!!!  Nice job ladies!!!

What do you have going on that is exciting and what ways are you helping to give back to your community?  Do you know anyone that has been awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship award?   I’d love to hear from you!

Make it a great week!

Citipass Coupon Book and Painting Company in Cary

Citipass Coupon Book
Citipass Coupon Book at Abbey Road Grill

Do you have a Citipass Coupon Book for the Great Raleigh Area yet!?!  Don’t miss out on this excellent opportunity!  Our family buys one every year and the savings are amazing!  We literally plan our dates and family-night outings around the coupons that are offered in this book!  We live in Cary, so we seem in be in the ‘heart’ for all of the Citipass Coupon book savings!  Last night we went to one of my MOST FAVORITE restaurants to eat, Abbey Road Bar and Grill and we used our Citipass coupon book.   Man their food is great!  The owners have been a client of our CPA firm for several years and we actually celebrated had my 30th birthday party there earlier this year.  I’d still rave about their food even if they weren’t a client, but I’m sure glad they are!  We like to take our kids there to eat because we can eat outside and the boys can run and play while we wait for our food to come.  Their beer is good and cold and the cheese fries are to die for!  The Citipass coupon book for Abbey Road has a BOGO (buy one get one free) so it’s a sweet, or shall I say, “delicious” deal!

I also wanted to spotlight one of my painter clients who did some work for us at our home.  Daniel of Southern Boys Painting and his crew worked on repairing and repainting our back deck during the month of August.

Southern Boys Painting

Southern Boys Painting

It’s amazing the wear-and-tear that can happen to your house/deck in a few short years!  Daniel and his crew were very professional and timely when it came to returning calls, answering questions and were top-notch in their painting/repair work.  Daniel took time to explain the difference to us as homeowners when it came to painting or staining our deck and he also helped to re-screen, hang new doors, and add latticework to the bottom of the deck.  We HIGHLY recommend Daniel and Southern Boys Painting!   Our relationship with Daniel began several years ago through meeting at BNI (Business Network International), a worldwide networking organization that we are still involved with today!  I love being able to use the services of our clients and then have the pleasure of referring them to others!

Do you have a Citipass Coupon Book for the Greater Raleigh area?  Where is your favorite place to go with the book?  Need any painting work done? Give Daniel of Southern Boys Painting a call (919) 291-7522 today!

Women’s Networking Group and Savor Apex

Women's Networking Group
Heather Mohr & Becca with Sharon Hill

Are you looking for a women’s networking group to get involved with?  If so, then seriously STOP and look no further!   WBON of Cary (Women Business Owners Network) is a women’s networking group that serves ladies in the entire Triangle area and beyond!  We’ve been part of this community for over 15 years and we continue to live up to our motto of ENSPIRING, EDUCATING and MOTIVATING women in the business world.   Our September meeting brought some exciting new changes for us we as moved our meeting to the gorgeous Prestonwood Country Club in Cary.  We had an excellent turnout with over 50+ ladies and most arrived early to participate in the networking circles.   We had some travel issues today as President Obama was visiting and speaking at WestStar Precision in Apex, NC, so all of the major interstates were blocked with high security.  Nevertheless, our dynamic speaker, Sharon Hill, arrived and she had a show-stopping-knocked-it-out-of-the-park presentation!  I NEVER get tired of hearing Sharon speak on etiquette, poise, posture and expectations for women!  She truly knows how to speak on the topic of etiquette and she helped our women’s networking group “Pump Up Our Professionalism“, just as she promised in her speaking topic!

Women's Networking Group
Kathy and Nur engage in coversation at WBON

We had a HUGE crowd of guests and we also welcomed several new members to our women’s networking group with gift bags that were filled with gifts from our Board and Sponsors (we all love a gift bag right!?!).  Our lunch-sponsor was John Summers of Chyten Educational Learning Center, a new business located in Cary.  I was pleased to have a few minutes before the meeting to mix and mingle with some of our guests.  I had a great time talking with Joy Barber (District Manager) and Elizabeth Honeycutt (Regional Vice President ) of Flex-Pay and I also enjoyed meeting Stacey Shanahan, (Owner) of CDS Productions.  I was happy to see a familiar face from the Triangle Ladies Lunch, Felicia Anderson of Arbonne!  A big THANK YOU to everyone who made this women’s networking group luncheon such a huge success today!  And a special thanks to JoAnn and the other female catering employee at Preston CC who helped add more tables (we needed more seats!!! YEA!!!) to our room to accommodate our growing guest list!  Both ladies were so helpful and took excellent care of us during our meeting!  Make sure you join us next month for our Annual Fall Mega-Networking luncheon!

Apex Savor 2011

The Apex Chamber of Commerce also hosted their annual Savor Apex event on Wednesday, an event with delicious food and fun treats for Apex Chamber members.  The weather was lovely, so the event was held outside under a large tent with tables and chairs for comfortable seating.  Cam attended the event on behalf of our CPA firm and also took along his wife, Brooke, and their two young children.  You can see Cam holding his daughter in this picture made by one of the Apex Chamber staff.  Congrats to the Apex Chamber for such a nice event and for gaining national news by have President Obama visit Apex!

Did you attend the Savor Apex event?  Have you ever visited with WBON of Cary at one of their monthly meetings?

Our CPA firm is growing and we are proudly taking on new clients.  We have several niche markets with women business owned companies, IT/Business consultants and hair salons.  If you know any business owners currently looking for a professional CPA service, please send them our way!  We are also busy during the new few weeks helping individuals who filed extensions for their personal tax returns meet the October 15th deadline.  Please let me know if we can help you!

 Delicious and Sweet!

Betsy Smith

Betsy Smith & Becca Smith

Never fear ladies, the Cary Chamber Business of Women series is BACK once again!  They take the summer months off from the luncheon series, and while it makes good sense, it also leaves us ladies hungry for their awesome programs (and the buffet at Preston) to start again soon in September!  The waiting was finally over as Betsy Smith, owner of E.L.Smith Consulting and co-author of Second Blooming for Women, was the dynamic speaker today for the Business of Women luncheon 2011-2012 series.  The Business of Women is Gold Sponsored by Women Business Owners Network of Cary.  Betsy gave an impressive talk about “Claiming Your Value” and gave tips on how to negotiate like a powerful woman!  I sat with my good friend, Beth Donnor at lunch and met a nice new lady, Mary Beth Schappe of Scouting for Joy, LLC.  Mary Beth was there to show support for Betsy as she is one of  former coaching clients.  Mary Beth’s company is focused on elevating employee engagement and team cohesion and she can be reached at 919-559-2865.  She’s currently taking on new corporate clients and would love to hear from you!

Cupcakes by Karen
Cupcakes by Karen

My older sister, Karen, has a very blessed gift in culinary, particularly in the baking/sweets department.  The girl can make a cupcake look BETTER then a picture in a magazine!  I’m always blown away with some of the creations she comes up with for her girls to take to school to share with their friends (sometimes I was I was one of their friends at school so I could enjoy these delicious treats!)  So I’m always on the lookout for her of other people doing cool baking-creations so I can share them with Karen!  I met a really nice girl earlier this week at our WBON meeting named Lauren Emig

Cake Pops

Cake Pops by Lauren E. Emig

Lauren also has a true talent for baking and has taken her talent to the next-level and is starting a business!  She makes “cake pops” and business is called Sweet Treats.  She brought these delicious cake pops to the meeting for use to share and I saved mine until I got back to the office!  It was vanilla with white frosting and purple glitter swirl icing on the outside and it was totally delicious!  We want to help Lauren make this a success so please contact her at  919-805-1977 or emigs@att.net to place an order!  She can do all types of flavors and styles!

Bob and his cookies!

Another sweet friend of mine (and a local business owner) Paige Williams of Great Harvest Bread Co. in Cary was kind enough to share a whole bag of Snicker Doodle cookies with our office!  I stopped by the bakery to see Paige and she said with a big smile “Here’s a bag of cookies to take to the boys at the office!”

Great Harvest Bread

Cookies coming in the door!

Now Paige must TRUST me a LOT to think that the bag of cookies would make it back to the office unopened (and uneaten by me) but she’s right, they did!  The past few weeks around the office have included long hours as the guys have worked hard to get all of our corporate tax return extensions completed so Paige was right on target with a fresh bag of cookies to make them smile!  Check out Bob’s face with the bag of cookies!  Stop by Great Harvest Bread Co. and find out what makes them such a friendly sweet place!

Where is your favorite place in town to get a sweet treat?  Know anyone looking for a sweet CPA Firm?  Send them our way! 😉

Charlie Hatch

Cary-Kildaire Rotarian, Charlie Hatch, with his wife, daughter & grand-daughters

There are many things in life that can make us pause and ask “why”…for example, “why did that happen” or “why me”.  I think one of the best things you can do with a “why” question, is to take it and make it a “What can I do to make a positive difference in this situation”.  I continue to find myself surrounded by wonderful people in my Cary-Kildaire Rotary Club who are really seeking ways to make the world a better place for those who are struck with life-changing “why me questions”.   I have two examples that crossed my path this week alone and I want to share their organizations/experiences through my blog.  The first is the story of Charlie Hatch (Cary-Kildaire Rotary club member) and his lovely family.  Charlie’s daughter, Mollie, visited our club this week and shared her family’s experience with juvenile diabetes.

JDRF Walk for a Cure

Their youngest was diagnosed 3-years ago and Mollie educated our club on the reality of dealing with juvenile diabetes and also shared the positives news that hopefully a cure could possibly be reached in the next 10 years!  Our Club has become a big supporter for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), particularly supporting the JDFR Walk to Cure Diabetes in theWinston-Salem area.  Would you like to donate to this worthy cause?  Click HERE to do so

I also talked to Margaret Neill this week; she is married to Kemp Neill (a Cary-Kildaire Rotarian) and has been a Sales Director with Mary Kay for many years (she’s got the pink Cadillac).  Margaret is working with MK on their national campaign called “Kiss Domestic Violence Away“.

Margaret Neill

Margaret Neill of Mary Kay

Every year, the Mark Kay Foundation awards grants to deserving women’s domestic violence shelters across the United States. In 2010, the Foundation awarded $20,000 grants to more than 150 women’s domestic violence shelters across the nation for a total of $3 million.  One of those shelters is located in Raleigh and has been involved with speaking at our Rotary Club this year.  Margaret is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday September 24th with O’Charleys restaurant in Cary for the ‘Kiss Domestic Violence Away’ campaign.  Tickets are $16.00 and it includes a nice breakfast and your choice of Mary Kay lipstick.  I am going to be out-of-town that day, but I still bought a ticket in support of this great cause.  Please consider supporting Margaret in her fundraiser and click HERE to reach her.

Mollie could have kept asking “why why why” about the juvenile diabetes happening to her family, but she choose to take action and is involved in growing support for the cure.  Margaret could have turned her head to the needs of domestic violence, but she is doing something about it to help ladies gain freedom and confidence from this abuse.  Both of these ladies are heroes in my book and I’m proud to support in anyway that I can!  I hope you will too!

Make it a great week!!!

Are you looking for a CPA in Cary, NC to help you with your small business accounting, business corporate taxes, or personal tax return filing?  If so, then our CPA firm could be the CPA in Cary for you!  If you are starting a new business (and many people are nowadays) or if you have been a busy business owner for several years and you are just looking for a change in your current CPA, then join with the masses who are coming to us for their accounting needs!  Our CPA firm was started in 1995 and over the past few years we’ve experienced a very solid pace in growth.  This growth has come from our creative marketing in the community and by our current clients sharing the news with others that they are really happy with their CPA in Cary!  We have made our client’s needs a top priority and we really seek out ways to make sure they are getting all the tax savings they are entitled too.  We also help to ensure that they meet their monthly IRS & NCDR tax obligations in a timely manner.  I spoke with a young man the other day that was referred to our CPA firm by another client and he asked me “Exactly what would a CPA in Cary do for my business?”  I was happy to share with him all of the many ways that we work with clients.  I told him that the biggest client feedback comment that we receive is that we help to alleviate stress and worry over monthly financials and taxes.  We also ease the stress of worrying about paying too much in taxes, and we are able to help stream-line organize all of the monthly accounting, and even help with other things like workers comp audits and employee payroll issues.  He told me that he had never realized how much a CPA in Cary could help him out!  When it comes to personal tax return filings, we’ve found that our service is much more personable than some of the other local tax filing offices and we are comparable in price.  So what are you waiting for?  Give us a call and let’s get you to a happier place with us as your CPA in Cary!

CPA in Cary
Becca with fun marketing items

Now for the FUN stuff!  Part of my job in marketing for this CPA in Cary is to really think outside of the box and create unique and memorable ways to get our message out to the community.  Most people I meet have never crossed paths with a Director of Marketing for a CPA firm, so I already have a leg-up in being in a unique position!  I’ve found that it is important to have a person like me out there marketing for a CPA firm because most people think that CPA’s are stuffy and nerdy and that they only come around once a year to prepare taxes and then back to their piles of files they go!  I’m out there giving a name and a FACE to our CPA firm in Cary!  I want people to know that we are here to help and that we are approachable and while we might be ‘bean counters’, we also have fun and enjoy our jobs.  Someone has to work the numbers right!?!  I’m a big believer in face-to-face marketing, so I am a member of countless networking groups in this area, nonprofit organizations and other community groups.  I love sponsoring expos that allow me to capture a specific audience and I have fun with my tabletop display designs (my tablecloth of MONEY gets a LOT of attention/comments).  We’ve had a MONEY TREE at one expo and even have Uncle Sam join us at some events for a picture opt!  It’s all about being memorable and unique at those events!  I also take a creative approach when it comes to marketing materials. The Uncle Sam cups that we used a few years back, as a promotional product, was a big hit among many!  I’m currently waiting on a large order of nail files to arrive that I ordered for several WOMEN only networking events that are coming up at the end of the month!  Got any cool marketing or networking ideas that you are willing to share?  I’d love to know!

So let us know how we can help as your local CPA in Cary.  Our experience has led us to be experts in our CPA profession and our roots in local organizations really have connected us with a caring heart for our community.  Any small business owners seeking the advice of a CPA in Cary should start with us!  We are also helping individuals who filed personal tax return extensions complete those filings by October 15th.
